Bonding, Shaping & Contouring in Loveland

Reshape & Restore Your Smile

Dental bonding uses dental resin to reshape and restore the appearance of your teeth.

The process of bonding is non-invasive, fast and affordable.

Bonding & contouring helps remove imperfections like uneven teeth, pointed teeth and minor chips.

Dr. Marlor is an experienced cosmetic dentist, and can help you get the treatment you need to restore your smile.

What Is Dental Bonding?

Dental bonding at Loveland Lakes Family Dentistry is a great way to restore and reshape your smile without removing any of your natural enamel. Dr. Marlor will clean your teeth then roughen your tooth with a special acid solution. Then, he will apply a tooth-colored dental resin to your tooth, and start shaping and trimming it using dental tools.

Once the bonding procedure is complete, the resin will look just like a natural part of your tooth. Bonding can be used to treat issues like staining, gaps in your smile, uneven and misshapen teeth and more, making it very versatile.

What Is Shaping & Contouring (Enameloplasty)?

Shaping and contouring is also often known as enameloplasty. It involves using a dental drill to remove a very thin layer of enamel from your teeth to correct issues like pointed teeth, minor chips, and uneven teeth.

Though a small layer of enamel is removed, shaping & contouring does not affect the health or strength of your teeth. Shaping and contouring is typically used with dental bonding to correct your smile, and provide you with great results in just one appointment.

When Would I Need Bonding, Shaping & Contouring?

Bonding, shaping and contouring are ideal for correcting multiple issues with your smile. For example, if you have stained teeth, large gaps between your teeth and a few uneven teeth, dental bonding can be used to cover up the stains and add more tooth material to fill in these gaps. Then, Dr. Marlor can use shaping & contouring to treat your uneven teeth, and create a more appealing smile.

If you have multiple cosmetic issues with your smile but are not interested in veneers due to their high cost or because veneers are not reversible, bonding, shaping & contouring may be right for you.

However, it’s important to note that bonding, shaping & contouring are not appropriate if you have major oral health issues like gum disease or cavities, or if you need orthodontic treatment. Your mouth must be healthy before you can get cosmetic dental treatment.

What Are The Benefits Of Bonding, Shaping & Contouring?

First, bonding, shaping & contouring are very affordable. Compared to veneers, for example, dental bonding is much less expensive, making it a good choice if you are on a budget.

The process is also minimally-invasive. Dental bonding does not require any enamel to be removed, and shaping & contouring involves the removal of only an extremely thin layer of tooth material. Most patients can get treatment without any numbing needles or discomfort.

You also will get fast results. Bonding, shaping & contouring can often be done in just a single appointment, even if you are having multiple teeth treated.
