Dental Crowns in Loveland

Dental crowns restore and protect teeth that have been damaged by decay or an oral injury.

We use the highest-quality lab-made crowns, which look and feel just like natural teeth.

Dr. Christiansen is dedicated to making you feel safe and comfortable throughout the entire crown placement process.

Dental crowns look and feel completely natural.

Why Would I Need a Dental Crown?

Dental crowns are usually the best way to restore a tooth that has been seriously damaged. Most commonly, they are used to restore teeth that have a serious cavity, which cannot be treated with a filling alone. Dental crowns are also used to cover a tooth after root canal therapy.

Crowns are also a good option for restoring teeth which have been damaged by an oral injury. In some cases, dental crowns can also be used for cosmetic purposes such as covering up a small or misshapen tooth that can’t be treated with veneers or dental bonding.

What Are the Benefits of Dental Crowns?

Dental crowns prevent further complications and damage to your smile. If you have a cracked tooth or a serious cavity, for example, your condition could worsen and your tooth could become infected if you do not get treatment. This could result in the eventual loss of your tooth, so treating your tooth early is always a good idea.

Another benefit of dental crowns is that they look and feel just like natural teeth. Crowns are designed to completely cover up and protect your remaining enamel, so they are shaped to match your smile perfectly.

What Can I Expect from the Dental Crown Treatment Process?

The process of having a dental crown placed usually takes two appointments at Loveland Lakes Family Dentistry. At your first appointment, Dr. Christiansen will begin by cleaning and numbing your mouth. Then, he will remove damaged enamel and trim your tooth to provide a stable platform, to which the crown can be attached. After this, he will take dental impressions and images of your mouth, and then send you home with a temporary crown.

The impressions and images of your mouth will be sent to a dental lab, where your crown will be crafted. Usually, this process takes about 2-3 weeks. Once your crown arrives at our office, you’ll come back for your second appointment. Dr. Christiansen will check the crown to ensure it fits perfectly, then bond it into place permanently.
